Composer for advertising

Twenty seconds to make someone feel something before they know what’s being sold.

And those twenty seconds are usually due on Thursday.

What it involves

Original music for spots, campaigns, fashion films and branded content: written from scratch for that picture and that edit, not a library track with a couple of tweaks. It’s the difference between music that would fit any ad and music that only fits yours.

I’ve signed the music for campaigns by CUPRA, Jean Paul Gaultier, Turkish Airlines, Nike, Roca, Endesa and the Guggenheim Museum, and at Reseda Estudio the studio’s composers have scored work for Loewe, Gucci, Zara, Movistar and Banco Sabadell. Agencies, production companies and brands, on advertising deadlines, which are what they are.

I work from the locked edit or from the script, depending on where the project is. If musicians need recording, they get recorded; if it has to be solved in two days from the studio, that works too.

FAQ

How long does it take to score a spot?
In advertising it’s usually one to three weeks from the edit: first ideas within days, a chosen direction, tweaks and delivery. If the campaign is genuinely in a rush it can be squeezed into days, and we’ll tell you what gets lost along the way.
What does original music for a campaign cost?
It depends on format, length, how many versions are needed and, above all, usage: a social-only piece is not a national TV spot with a two-year licence. Every project is quoted with the brief on the table, never from a fixed rate card.
Original music or library music?
Library music is cheaper and faster, and sometimes it’s the right call. But a library track can be used by another brand tomorrow, won’t follow your cuts and doesn’t build a sonic identity. Original music is written for your edit and is yours on the terms we agree.
Who owns the rights to the music?
It’s agreed case by case: a full buyout, or a licence by territory, media and term. It’s put in writing before we start, so nobody gets a surprise when the campaign rolls out to another country.
Do you work with agencies outside Spain?
Yes. Composition, production and mixing happen at Reseda Estudio in Madrid, and the process is remote except when live musicians need recording. Many of the fashion campaigns we’ve done were international.
