A free contemporary retelling of The Wizard of Oz directed by Paco León: a teenage girl’s coming-of-age journey, somewhere between fantasy, colour and family drama. It premiered at the San Sebastián Film Festival in 2022 and reached Netflix the same year.
An atonal, daring and thoroughly unorthodox score by film-music standards. At its core is a solo piano that, like the film’s “villains”, gradually decomposes and loses its nature until it becomes a deconstruction of detuned, almost toneless piano, driven by extended techniques and the mechanics of the instrument itself. Alongside it sit pieces written in the language of the classic musical.
